Karim Rashid… Asshole Designer Extraordinaire?

And Mr. Rashid is no exception. Speaking with a faux-german accent (at least that’s what it sounds like) he portrays himself as an ‘inventor’ of sorts. You may have even seen him in the commercial that sparked this article. That of the Kone, his recent design put out by Dirt Devil, a company notorious for disastrous products. Expensive, decently designed, yet somehow completely nonfunctional after only a few months of use, Dirt Devil products have become the laughing stock of vacuum manufacturers. This then comes as no surprise that Mr. Rashid would therefore call upon his incredible panache for designs that are virtually inaccessible to anyone outside of the MOMA. We took it upon ourselves to contrast and compare what makes a designer great, and see if we could imitate someone that, without his attitude, is basically another wannabe Herman-Miller. Except, failing at it in our eyes… completely.
We tried our best to replicate his poses, and did quite well I think. Behold, the awesomeness that is the Karim Rashid pose-off. We show one of our writers, the complete opposite of Mr. Rashid. Click to enlarge images.

This is an anime coming out soon. Normally, I’d not pay attention, but then one looks incredible. The detail in the drawings alone is enough for me to plop myself in front of a tv for however long it takes to watch. This is the trailer, I spent a few minutes redoing it so that it’s better quality, and inserted subtitles in.

Words do not do this insane Ukrainian music video justice… just watch. From what I can tell, it’s about how drinking Vodka makes things better? Or maybe how boring a long-table party is, until everyone starts drinking Vodka. It has something to do with Vodka, I’m certain of that.
And who gave these people a wide angle lens? It’s a privilege… not a right.
No commentsMariculture of the DPRK
Lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve been lacking a routine beyond that which is mandatory for survival (going to work, sleeping, eating meals). The need for something extra in my daily routine has caused me to begin this undertaking which shall hence fourth be called Today in News From Korean Central News Agency of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or T in N from KCNA of DPRK for short.
The goal of this daily blog entry is to sift through the English language news releases of the DPRK and bring you only the best in totalitarian propaganda. I feel that if someone took the time to translate all this content and post it on their website site that oddly makes me feel like I connected to it using Prodigy as my ISP I owe it it to them to read it and comment back because if there is anything that I know the DPRK cherishes its an open dialogue. We’ll begin with a look at Scientific Rese going on in the DPRK.
I had a fillet of fish from McDonald’s for lunch today and it made me pause to think about how amazing/ terrifying it was that we our able to produce fish in such abundance that on a whim I can have it anytime I want with no effort at all. Thats why this article stuck out to me. Apparently America is not alone in its amazing fish technology. As it always will be the news release is presented completely unedited as it appears on the KCNA’s site.
No commentsWhat IS the Best Music Video Ever?
Most people would think this is an easy question to answer. Some might say the lyrical reverseness that is Spike Jonzes’ Pharcyde music video (not that one, the one in reverse). Or some would instantly fall on a Michel Gondry video. As IF one of those ‘hacks’ could produce work so great as to be deemed the Best Music Video Ever Made by us here at ArtofDestroy.co.uk. Now, I know what you must be saying, “When are you going to finally make the announcement already? I know what video is the greatest, it’s obvious!”.
Well, as you probably guessed, the Best Music Video Ever Made award of 2007 is going to Dio and “Holy Diver”. This video is without question the most authentic and artistically expressive music video, nay, video ever made. It is with a proud heart that we award Dio’s, Holy Diver, the ArtofDestroy.co.uk Best Music Video Ever Made ‘07 award!

Moscow Panorama
I just thought I would drop a link in for this Moscow Panorama which is just incredible. This particular photo is of a view of Vasiljevsky spusk, near the Kremlin. (Васильевский спуск, вид на храм Преображения.
To get to the Project Page follow this link: http://pano.1drey.com/all_moscow.html. It’s full of dozens of panoramic shots within Moscow, some really amazing ones in there, but you really need to browse yourself, because there are simply so many nice ones.
The main site is http://pano.1drey.com The site is in Russian, but there is a dual-screen view in English for the regular non-Cyrillic reading individual. Pretty beautiful pictures in there, including a few of an insane car interior.
Enjoy you ungrateful bastards!
